We got incredible value for our money at this self-catering cottage. The room was luxurious, with a comfortable bed and beautiful sea-themed decorations. The location was perfect, with stunning views and the nearby castle ruin added to the mysterious atmosphere. The staff, especially Manager Joy, were friendly and helpful. We felt truly welcomed. Plus, the cottage was well-equipped with all the amenities we needed, including a tumble dryer and YouTube on the TV.
The morning meal could have been improved with a wider variety of options.

The lighthouse next door was a real treat, especially when it kept me up all night with its charming soundproofing. Oh, and the WiFi was a wonderful bonus, in case I needed a distraction from the isolation.
I just loved driving 33 km to get anywhere. It was the highlight of my stay, especially navigating the single track road with no turn outs.

The bathroom was fabulous - it had both a bath and a shower! It made me feel like I was in a luxurious spa, and I could have a nice soak or a quick rinse depending on my mood. Loved it!
Just a personal preference, but I would have liked the bathroom to have a bit more lighting.

Spotless, well-decorated cottage with stunning views and a castle ruin nearby. Isolated location, but reasonable drive to restaurants and grocery stores. Owners clearly love the place, and it shows in the comfortable bed and well-equipped amenities. A quiet, mysterious getaway.

Close to the lighthouse, great Wi-Fi, and John O Groats only 33 km away. Perfect for when I want to pretend I'm a lighthouse keeper and isolate myself from civilization.
Oh, just adored having no negatives to share about this heavenly experience. Not a single thing went wrong.

The cottage offers a stunning location with incredible views of the surrounding area, including a castle ruin nearby. The interior is well-decorated and equipped with luxury bedding, a tumble dryer, and even a YouTube TV feature. Additionally, the owners have gone above and beyond by providing sea-themed decorations, shells, and an extensive library about lighthouses. The cottage is also well-equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay.
There have been reports of occasional dog waste in the exterior area of the cottage, which could detract from the overall experience.

The bed and bedding were so comfortable, it felt like sleeping on a cloud. The cottage was well-equipped with everything we needed and more, including a tumble dryer and YouTube on the TV. We loved the sea themed decorations and the jars of shells, it really added a special touch. The location of the cottage was exceptional, with stunning views and a castle ruin nearby. We also appreciated the "green" ethos of the place and the extensive library about lighthouses. The contact with the owner and manager Joy was friendly and helpful. We can't wait to come back!
The only downside was that there were some weeds in the path around the cottage and dog poo in the grass. However, this did not affect our stay and the inside of the cottage was perfect.
